A Mikoshi at Tsubame-Sanjo Station

A mikoshi (portable shrine) at Tsubame-Sanjo Station in Niigata Prefecture. It was made by volunteer craftsmen of Tsubame, a city famous for its craftsmanship and metal metalworking. The traditions of craftsmanship in Tsubame begun in 1626 with the manufacture of wa-kugi (Japanese nails).
The mikoshi is being featured every July at the city’s Hien Summer Festival.
