On December 30, 1927, Japan’s and Asia’s first subway line started running between Ueno and Asakusa, covering a distance of 2.2 kilometers. This is the first car used for the first subway and since its opening, this car had been in service for some 40 years. Along with the opening of Metro Museum in July 1986, overall refurbishment were implemented except for part of the under-floor equipment and restored to the faithful replica. It was designated as a national Important Cultural Property as of September, 2017.
