Manhole cover in Odawara: Odoriko E257 series train
A manhole cover outside the Odawara Station in Kanagawa Prefecture featuring the “Odoriko” E257 series limited express train with the sea of the area and plum, Odawara’s city flowers. It writes “EAST JAPAN RAILWAY COMPANY SERIES E257 ODORIKO” and “150TH ANNIVERSARY OF RAILWAYS 1872.10.14”. On October 14, 1872, Japan’s first railway route officially opened. Among the passengers of the steam train that traveled from Shimbashi Station in Tokyo to Sakuragicho Station in Yokohama was Emperor Meiji.
