Tokyo Tower climbing stairs

When you are in Tokyo most probably you will visit one of its landmarks, Tokyo Tower. At 332.9 metres (1,092 ft), it is the second-tallest structure in Japan and one of the top tourist attractions with over 150 million visitors since its opening in 1958.

Tokyo Tower has two observatories. The 150m Main Deck and the 250m Top Deck. For the main deck, in addition to the lift, you can use the 600-step staircase. People who make it all the way up the stairs receive a “Noppon Official Stair Climber Certificate”! (see photo below). Noppon is the name of Tokyo Tower mascots.

The “climbing stairs” to Main Deck are open only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 11 am to  4 pm. Standard observatory fee is necessary. Because it is an outside staircase, it is closed for rainy or severe weather.
