Mitake Tozan Railway

Mitake Tozan Railway (御岳登山鉄道, Mitake Tozan Tetsudo) operates the cable car on Mount Mitake at the western edge of Tokyo. The line built in 1927, starts at Takimoto Station in the middle of the mountain and in 6 minutes reaches Mitakesan Station. After the cable line there is a short chairlift line, also managed by Mitake Tozan Tetsudo. A popular shrine Musashi-Mitake is located on the mountain’s summit. There is also a small village with ryokan (Japanese style inns) and souvenir shops.

Mitake Tozan Tetsudo is owned by private railway operator Keio Corporation, member of Keio Group.
