The building of the Kawagoe Chamber of Commerce and Industry was built in December 1927 as the Kawagoe branch of Bushu Bank. It was designed by Japanese architect Kenjiro Maeda (1892-1975) who, as he said, was inspired by the Parthenon.

It was later acquired by the Kawagoe Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1970 and has since been used as an office.

The building is a registered tangible cultural property of Japan and has designated as an important building for Kawagoe City’s urban landscape.
