A work by Portuguese artist Bartolomeu Cid dos Santos (1931-2008) installed at Nihombashi Station in Tokyo. It was donated in 1993 by the Lisbon Metro to celebrate the longstanding friendship between Japan and Portugal, a relationship that dates back to 1543, when Portuguese sailors first reached Japan.

Using an old map from the Age of Discovery as its central motif, the artwork depicts the sea voyage from Portugal to Nagasaki capturing the spirit of exploration that first connected the two nations.
