
Α Nebuta exhibit of Koganei Kojiro in Koganei Park, Tokyo. Koganei Kojiro (小金井小次郎, 1818~1881) was born in the area. He was a member of the yakuza who was exiled in 1856 to Miyake Island in the Izu archipelago, where he built a well with his own money for the islanders who were suffering from a water shortage. The well provided water to the island for over 100 years.
The Nebuta is created by awarded Νebuta artist Haruichi Kitamura (born in 1981 in Aomori city).
The nebuta is part of the Koganei Park Illumination from November 23rd to December 8th. The park is home of the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.
