Isahaya Station (諫早駅) is a railway station in Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture, operated by Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) and the Shimabara Railway. It is the second busiest station in Nagasaki Prefecture, after Nagasaki Station, and the third busiest along the Nagasaki Main Line.
Four railway lines pass through Isahaya Station: JR Kyushu’s Nagasaki Main Line, Omura Line, and Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen, as well as the Shimabara Railway Line operated by Shimabara Railway.
The station opened on November 27, 1898.
This small bridge in front of Isahaya Station’s East Gate is a 1/7-scale replica of the Megane-bashi (Spectacles Bridge), located just a 15-minute walk away in Isahaya Park. It is built from Isahaya stone, the same material used for the original bridge.Every year in mid-September, the Nonnoko Isahaya Festival takes place as the city’s largest cultural celebration. More than 6,000 residents take part, parading and performing traditional arts, highlighting the famous Nonnoko Plate Dance, where dancers clap small plates together.
