Isesaki Shrine

Isesaki Shrine (伊勢崎神社) is located in Isesaki City, in the southern part of Gunma Prefecture. It is said that it was founded in 1213 by Yoshizumi Miura, a samurai and general of the Kamakura Shogunate. The location of the shrine at its foundation is unknown. It was moved to its current location in 1329 by the local governor.
The current shrine building, with very detailed and magnificent carvings, was built in 1848. The worship hall was built in 1933. The main enshrined deity is Ukemochi-no Kami, goddess of food. In addition are enshrined 27 other dieties.

Isesaki Shrine is a 16-minute walk from Isesaki Station.
