Kitami Hikawa Shrine

Kitami Hikawa Jinja (喜多見氷川神社) is located in Kitami, a beautiful and peaceful area in the Setagaya ward of Tokyo.

It is said to have been founded in 740, although the exact details are unclear, as historical records were lost in a flood during the Enbun period (1356–1360). It is believed to have originally been located near the banks of the Tama River. The enshrined kami is Susanoo-no-Mikoto.

The shrine is an 18-minute walk from Kitami Station (the station is 26 minutes from Shinjuku Station on the Odakyu Odawara Line).
