Ukiyo-e art on shop shutters

Utagawa Hiroshige’s ukiyo-e on Yubendo’s shop shutters. Yubendo is a traditional stationery store founded in 1912, specializing in calligraphy supplies and washi Japanese paper and seasonal items. Among its faithful clients were several famous painters, calligraphers and writers, including the nihonga painters Yokoyama Taikan, Kobayashi Kokei and Kawai Gyokudo, the calligrapher Kusakabe Meikaku and the writer Saneatsu Mushanokoji.
