Edogawa Ranpo

On this day, July 28, 1965, author Taro Hirai, better known by the pen name Edogawa Ranpo (江戸川 乱歩) passed away in Tokyo at the age of 70. He widely regarded as the father of Japanese mystery and thriller fiction.

This monument has been erected in Nagoya, in the area where he spent his childhood.
