A landmark of Hakata Bay, the Hakata Port Tower (博多ポートタワー) stands in the Bayside Place Hakata Pier of Chikkohonmachi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka. This 103-meter-tall lattice tower features an observation deck at 73.5 meters, offering 360-degree panoramic views of the sea and the city.
Designed by architect Tachu Naito (内藤 多仲, 1886- 1970) – also known for Tokyo Tower and Osaka’s second Tsutenkaku – it is the sixth in his series of “Six Tower Brothers”. The tower opened to the public in 1964.
Admission is free.
