Dazaifu Station

Dazaifu Station (太宰府駅Dazaifu-eki) is a station located in Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is operated by the Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Nishitetsu) on Dazaifu Line that connects Chikushino city with Dazaifu. The station is the last of three on the line. The other two are Nishitetsu Futsukaichi in Chikushino and Nishitetsu Gojo in Dazaifu.

Dazaifu Station opened on 1 May 1902 as a station on the Dazaifu Horse Railway, which used horse-drawn carriages on a railway. On January 1912 changed from horse to steam and electrified by September 1924.

There is a tourist information center at the station, and the popular Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is only a 250-meter walk away.
