Located in Yoyogi-Uehara, the Koga Masao Museum of Music honors legendary composer Masao Koga and the rich history of Japanese popular music. Koga (1904‑1978) praised for his role in shaping ryukoka and enka – genres that blended nostalgia, lyrical melodies, and the tender melancholy of the Showa era.

On the third floor of the museum you can see his relocated study and Japanese-style room, along with a permanent exhibition showcasing his life and over 1,000 of his beloved melodies.

Other highlights include the Popular Music Hall of Fame which celebrates key figures in Japan’s popular music scene, a music information room, museum shop, and a karaoke studio where visitors can record their own CDs. The museum also hosts rotating exhibitions on various music-related themes, all included with admission. On the first floor, Keyaki Hall hosts concerts and lectures on a variety of topics.
