Myorakuji Temple (妙楽寺), is a a Tendai sect temple located on a small hill in Tama Ward, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is a popular spot for viewing hydrangeas and has become known as the “Hydrangea Temple”. The temple grounds are covered with approximately 1,000 hydrangea plants of 28 different varieties, including mountain hydrangeas and oakleaf hydrangeas. The hydrangeas are typically at their best from mid to late June each year.
The temple is accessible by bus from Noborito Station and Mukogaoka-Yuen Station. It’s also about a 25-minute walk from JR Shukugawara Station.
