Hiking at Mt. Myoho-ga-take

One of the interesting spots while visiting Mitsumine Jinja (the shrine deep in the mountains at Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture), is Okunomiya. It is a small shinto shrine at the top of Mt. Myoho-ga-take (1329 meters) which belongs to the sacred territory of Mitsumine Jinja and built by monks who were going to the mountain for pray and meditation-practice.

The path to the top gives you a wonderful hiking experience (you will also pass from wooden torii gates) but not so easy, there are steep slopes and the wooden steps are partly decayed. Be sure to manage your time so to return before the sun goes down.
