Tokyo Daijingu, the Love Shrine
Tokyo Daijingu Shrine was established in 1880 to worship the deities of Ise Jingu Shrine from afar. It enshrines the sun goddess Amaterasu-mikami and Toyouke-no-okami. These two deities are worshipped together with the three deities of creation and growth which govern matchmaking for all living creatures.
Because this shrine founded the Shinto wedding ceremony, it is popular as a shrine for a good marriage, and visits by young people have been constantly on the increase. Many Japanese, especially young women come to Daijingu to pray for a new love or to save a troubled one.
